About
The Bassoon Concerto was written for Philadelphia Orchestra's principal bassoonist Daniel Matsukawa. Taylor took it upon himself to write 2 concertos for this instrument back to back. This bassoon concerto is also scored for a fairly large orchestra and is very percussive in nature. The bassoon part requires a lot of stamina and virtuosity to carry out the piece successfully.
